About this event

Human & Protective Services (HPS) instructors and current students will showcase the skills and training available to High School students within the Madison College district. Students who enroll in these courses earn college credit and industry-recognized credentials in Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and Fire Recruit Academy while completing high school. Both courses can be completed in a total of 2 semesters and meet the minimum requirements for employment with a fire department or EMS service.

Students should work in collaboration with their High School Counselors on how they can take advantage of these classes using Start College Now .

All high school students, parents, school counselors, teachers and administrators are welcome to attend to learn more about what our high school programming has to offer!

Fire Academy: (Tower 1)

  • Search and rescue with victim recovery
  • Fire Attack

EMR students:

  • Patient Assessment for a Trauma victim with Treatment measures
  • Utlization of the MATC Ambulance

The School of Human and Protective Services offers a variety of programs and services with a community focus. Popular programs include urban forestry, paramedic, criminal justice, police academy, fire protection, human services and early childhood education.
